Spooky Oookie!

(image via flickr)

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween! I hope we see some scary homesteads while out trick or treating! I just love it when people really get into the spirit and go all out with decorating. I am sure that my daughter will have a blast and she'll come home with mounds of candy for all of us to eat!

Sweet treats!

Every year I try to think of something cute and creative to make for my daughters class Halloween party! I want something that is not real time consuming and easy to create. I was searching for some ideas and came across these irresistible sweet treats. I took a cake decorating class way back when my little one was still really little and I am glad I did. I can't tell you how much it has came in handy. I am not sure which one I am going to try and tackle and I may still search a little more. Enjoy and remember just looking doesn't hurt the waist line! :o)

Which one do you think a fourth grade class would like?

Have a great day!

My Friend from a-far!

Here is something you might find interesting! I have had a pen pal since I was in the seventh grade. We were assigned one from our geography class and I have been in contact since. He originally lived in New Zealand and now resides in Australia. He wants to come to the United States to visit and meet us in person. We are trying to arrange something for late spring early summer of this next year. I am really excited and I hope he is as impressed with our country as I am his. I found some photo's and I can't get over the beauty. I am from Michigan and it is pretty here, but not as exquisite as these photo's. I hope that my family and I can visit him sometime in the near future. It would be my first international trip.

Enjoy the photo's and have a great day!

Learning Something New!

I have always wanted to learn to knit! Every year I get the needles and a ball of yarn out and I have to play around with it for about an hour until it starts coming back to me. All I ever manage to get the hang of is knitting a chain. I am not sure where to go from there. It seems like it could be very relaxing and something that you could get lost in, like a good book.

This year I have promised myself that I am going to do it. I am going to learn how to actually complete a project and make myself a scarf. I know once I figure out how to turn a corner, complete a row and begin a new one I will be on my way!

Now all I have to do is figure out what color and texture I want to use for my first project. There are so many to choose from and the possibilities are endless!

I'll let you know how it turns out!

To carve or not to carve!

This is the question?

Every year when it comes time to start cutting and scooping the yuck, I always think about alternative ways to creatively decorate the pumpkin! I have ideas of painting it and have tried, although not exactly ever turning out the way I envisioned. I came across this creative display, each with their own personality and I just had to share!

(image via flickr)

I am still really partial to the old school carving of the pumpkin! Like everything in time, it too has evolved and become even more of an artistic expression than just the old triangle shapes and scary face. You need lots of patience, a steady hand and maybe even some halloween music to inspire you to create these master pieces.

So back to the question, to carve or not to carve? I know I'll be carving how about you?

Orange accents!

It's Fall Ya All!

                                                              (images via flickr)

I think you know by now that fall is my most favorite time of year! Here is one more reason why I love it so much. I just love the bright fall colors and the pumpkins that play such a great part of the season. They are like flowers and start popping up everywhere! In front of peoples homes, businesses, farms and appear everywhere there is Halloween decor. There is something about the great pumpkin. I think that everyone one of them whether carved or not have their own personality and shape. They remind me so much of people!

Have you gotten your pumpkin Yet?

Caught between a rock and a hard place!

This was a great example of this old saying!  Long story short I found a deer caught up in our tree.  I had to call the police to get it out.  And thanks to them it was set free and unharmed.  We have a tiny woods around our house and a small cluster of deer were crossing the road when one almost got hit by a car and was spooked.  It took off out of it's mind and ran, jumped through the y of the tree and end result, it got stuck!  This ordeal made our local newspaper and was the talk of our small town for quite some time.

This is a story that will always be in our family for years to come!  I am just glad we have pictures to prove it!

Art full Inspiration!

To inspire someone while being inspired is so rewarding!

At the beginning of the school Year, just eight days into school my daughters teacher was in a horrific car accident!  Her world was turned up side down in the matter of seconds while on her way to school.  She was driving along about 45-50mph when another car ran a stop sign and hit her.  The other car was traveling about 55mph when it crashed into the drivers door of the teachers car.

The first few days in the hospital were critical and she was going to have to fight her way through this battle.  She suffered many broken bones, collapsed lung, shattered ankle, internal bleeding, broken hip and pelvis.  She has a long road ahead of her and much healing to do! The principal of the school and I came together and decided to make her an inspirational piece in hopes that on a day to day basis she would be reminded to take it one day at a time.  Anything to help keep her mind free of the long road ahead and focus on the day at hand.

I feel so bad for her and her family!  She is a married woman and has two children under the age of 5.  I know that she wants to get her life back and be with her family again.  I hope this helps make her journey a little more inspired and she is able to dig deep for the strength to heal and get better!

She was only about 2 miles from reaching the school and being a teacher for the day. Instead, her world was turned up side down, if only the other car had stopped or she had been a few minutes later.  "If Only"!

May God Bless you and your family Mrs. Haas and best wishes to you as you go through your healing process!

To Bee or not to Bee!

That is the question?

Isn't it adorable?  I just couldn't help myself!  I had to purchase this sweet little costume and thanks to those who designed and created this adorable piece. Although I am sure that my little doggie would like to say it in a more sarcastic way "yeah thanks"! Even though we loved it, I know she would beg to differ.  Well, at least she was being a great sport and trust me she got lots of treats after we tortured her with the pictures! Now all we have to do is figure out what my 9 year old little girl is going to be.

Fall beauty at its best!

                {image via flickr}
I don't know if you are lucky enough to live near the mountains during the fall season or any time of year for that matter! I am not so lucky.  A few years back I was lucky enough to take a trip to the Smokie Mountains with my family at the peak of the color change. I have one word "breathtaking"! It is the most beautiful thing that I have ever seen. I had been to the Smokies may times before, but never in the fall. Miles and miles of vibrant color as far as you can see. I myself love the area and could move there, if only my husbands job and family were there! If you have never seen the mountains during the fall time you need to bless your eyes with its beauty and take a trip. I can promise you, you won't regret it!

I am really wishing I was there right now!

fall friendzy!

One of my favorite times of the year is fall! The smell of the fall crisp air and the falling leaves. we have a woods around us and I love watching the squirrels gathering nuts and burring them. They are busy busy and I honestly think they feel as if they are never going to eat again.
One of natures best!

Have a great fall day!

Words to think about!

you have to take the good with the bad,
smile with the sad,
love what you got,
and remember what you've had,
always forgive,
but never forget,
learn from your mistakes,
but never regret,
people change,
things go wrong,
just remember life goes on..............

I don't know about you, I have to remind myself of this quite frequently!
If it was only this cut and dry and everyday life did not cloud perspective, life would be so much easier!
